Welcome to Seedlings Nursery and Sunflower Pre School classes.
Our staffing :
Seedlings Nursery - Mrs Gildert , Mrs Doe, Mrs Dullforce and Miss Sneath.
Sunflower Pre School Class - Mrs Jones, Miss Leo and Mrs Kelly.
Term One
A very warm welcome to the children who have joined Seedlings and Sunflower Class this term. During the next few weeks, we look forward to getting to know each other and for the children to become familiar with our routines.
If your child attends Sunflower Class, please remember to get a bookbag from the school uniform shop.
Weekly updates will be displayed on our class window.
Harvest Time :
In Sunflower Class, we have been talking about Harvest time, food, farms and farmers. We have been very busy playing in our farm shop, counting and sorting farm animals and listening to farm stories. On Friday, we made yummy, scrummy strawberry milkshakes, just like Oliver!
A busy week :
This week we went to the school hall for our first PE session. We used the ribbon streamers and played circle games. We watched some videos about
" Space" and designed a " Space Poster" for science. On Friday, we began our weekly cooking activity. We made delicious oaty biscuits for snack.
End of Term :
During the last week of term, we explored shapes and patterns and spoke about Autumn . We listened to Autumn poems and designed some beautiful leaf prints with Autumn colours.
Term Two
This term we will be talking about " What happens at night time" and "What we celebrate and remember at this time of year". We particularly look forward to celebrating Christmas very soon!
Week One :
This week we painted "happy" pumpkin faces and talked about feelings. We drew skeletons with white chalks. We printed beautiful fireworks and listened to firework poems. On Friday we made chocolate " sparkler" breadsticks for snack!
Week Two:
This week we've been talking about rockets and space. We've been building and designing with small and large construction resources. For PE on Wednesday, we participated in a Cosmic Yoga " Space" session. On Friday afternoon, we joined the whole school for a Remembrance Assembly. Mrs Dullforce played her trumpet.
Core Books :
The children have really enjoyed listening to and becoming familiar with our core books for this term " Owl Babies" and " Stickman"
End of Term:
We had a very busy end of term celebrating Christmas. The children participated in our " Sleepy Shepherd" Nativity story, met Father Christmas and had great fun at our Christmas party.
We would like to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
Term Three
We hope everyone has had wonderful Christmas holiday and our very best wishes for 2024. We would like to welcome the children back to Sunflower Class and we look forward to getting to know our new little starters.
This term, our topics and themes are " Winter Time" , " Toys" and " Chinese new Year".
Week One:
This week we focused on Winter time. We practised our cutting and sticking skills using different sized snowmen. We listened to Winter stories and poems and played with the polar animals. We experimented with ice outdoors and painted some amazing "Olaf" pictures.
Our Topic:
The children really enjoyed learning about " Toys". We used and spoke about moving toys, played in the role play toy shop, made a beautiful class " Toy" book, designed robots and kites with patterns and painted a huge red bus!
End Of Term:
We had a very busy last week of term. We learnt about Mary Anning, a female scientist who lived long ago. She found lots of fossils and dinosaur bones! We spoke about "Feelings" and relaxed with Cosmic Yoga. Willow Class joined us for paired reading and we made beautiful lanterns to celebrate Chinese New Year.
Term Four
Welcome to Term Four in Sunflower Class. Our topic and themes this term are
" Traditional Tales", " Spring Time " and " Easter". Our core books are "The Foggy, Foggy Forest" and " Jack and the Beanstalk".
The beginning of Term :
During the first weeks of term , the children have been very busy completing activities linked to some well known Traditional Tales.
World Book Day 2024 :
Everyone had great fun dressing up and talking about favourite characters. We listened to " The Colour Monster" story and spoke about feelings.
Week Four:
This week was British Science week and the theme was " Time"
End of Term :
After listening to " Jack and the Beanstalk", we planted some beans and we hope they grow really tall. We talked about the characters we might meet in " The Foggy, Foggy Forest". We spoke about Spring time and Easter and made bunnies and chicks to hang on the Easter tree.
Term Five
We hope everyone had a wonderful Easter holiday.
Welcome to Term 5 in Sunflower Class. This term we will be learning about minibeasts and observing what's happening outdoors in our garden.
All about Mini Beasts:
We have had so much fun learning about mini beasts and life cycles and have really enjoyed our core books " The very hungry caterpillar" and " Mad about Mini beasts".
What's happening in our garden ?
We have been very busy outdoors, playing in our garden and enjoying the sunny Spring time weather. We've been looking for different mini beast that live at our school.
Term 6
Welcome back to Sunflower Class and our final term of this Academic year. This term the older children will be getting ready for the transition to their new Reception classes. We have lots of fun activities planned and we'll be talking about " Going places and going on a journey".
We've enjoyed playing outdoors in our garden and even had Chloe's Mobile Farm to visit. We have done some beautiful seaside craft activities. We had a fabulous sports day and all our grown ups came to watch our races.
Next week is the end of a very busy term and we're really looking forward to out Teddy Bears Picnic.
We would like to wish everyone a happy and safe Summer holiday .
