Sutton Courtenay Nature Reserve
We enjoyed a lovely day out at the nature reserve. Our trip links to our learning in science - 'living thing and their habitats'. We were able to explore several habitats in the real world which was very exciting. We had the opportunity to explore the larger habitat - the woodlands, as well as observing micro-habitats. We discussed what animals need to survive; air, water, food and shelter and then we built bug hotels/dens using nature around us. We went on a hunt for signs of living things and found feathers, footprints, snail shells and actual bones. We used classification keys to work out who the bones and footprints belonged to. We also went pond dipping and found many creatures living in the pond from baby dragonflies (nymphs) to newts. It was a great day out.
