Art - This term we began by learning about primary, secondary and tertiary colours. We moved on to looking at and exploring how to create tints (adding white to a colour) and shades (adding black to a colour). Below, you will see how we have used our knowledge of tints and shades to create a 3 dimensional painting.
Science - Towards the end of term 4 and the beginning of term 5, we have been exploring and learning about sound. In the lesson we learnt about how we hear sound. We explored vibrations using a drum and rice, hitting softly and hard to see how the different strength of vibrations made the rice move. We talked about hearing aids and how the first ones were large cones. We investigated how having a large cone next to our ears can really make sound appear louder.
Science - Continuing with our learning of sound, we have explored how we can change the volume of sound using musical instruments. We discussed any patterns identified. We discovered that when we give an instrument more energy, such as striking the triangle harder or tapping the glockenspiel with more force, it produces more vibrations creating a louder sound.
