For each day there will be a video to watch and a worksheet to have a go at. If you have anything at home to help you have a go at the work practically too or instead, that would be great! For example you could could make your own number cards by tearing up some paper and writing one number up to 20 on each one. Then you could use them to create addition and subtraction number sentences (e.g. 14 + 5 and 20 - 3). You could use objects from your house to help you solve the questions.
Monday
WALT (We are learning to): Add by making 10.
Click on the video link below, then find the 'Addition and Subtraction (within 20) block' - under Spring Term and click it. Find and watch the first 'Add by Making 10' video. Then have a go at the activity shown in the video. You can make your own tens frames by drawing them or use the one below. Use objects from your house (e.g. paperclips) to put onto the tens frames.
If you want to learn more about how to add by making 10, you can watch the second 'Add by Making 10' video.
Tuesday
WALT: See what we have remembered about numbers to 20.
At school we are using this session to see what we have learnt from our last topic by doing a piece of work on our own. It would be great if you could have a go at this, without any help from a grown up and bring it into school so we can see how you have got on. Don't worry if you find some of the questions tricky, just try your best!
Wednesday
WALT: subtract one number from another - up to 20 (not crossing 10).
Click on the video link below, then find the 'Addition and Subtraction (within 20) block' - under Spring Term and click it. Find and watch the 'Subtraction - not crossing 10' video.
Once you have watched it, have a go at solving some of the subtraction questions from the sheet below. You could use tens frames or a number line to help you.
Thursday
WALT: subtract one number from another - up to 20 (not crossing 10).
This is the second session on subtraction. If you need to, find and re-watch the 'Subtraction - not crossing 10' video from yesterday.
Then have a go at the sheet below.
Friday
We usually use Fridays at school to have a good re-cap and check the children have understood all the topics we have covered during the week. You could have a look back at the work you have done and have another go at any tricky questions.
You could also have a look on the Internet for some maths games.
There is also a really good new maths app by White Rose that you can download to play if you want to.
