Design and Technology
This week we are designing our new chairs for Baby Bear, after investigating and exploring existing chair products in the world around us.
You will need to download the design sheets for your Design and Technology Booklet and draw your design carefully, thinking about how you would like the chair to look, and label the features your chair will have such as the back, legs, seat and what they will be made of.
You then need to write a list of the junk modelling materials you will need to make your chair and any equipment or tools such as scissors and glue spreaders. This will be a bit like a shopping list so we can get junk modelling materials ready for making your chair designs next week.
Computing - Safer Internet Day
Tuesday 8th February 2022 is Safer Internet Day, and so this week we are having a big focus on staying safe online. There are a few jobs and activities we would like you to do:
First share the story of #Goldilocks by Jeanne Willis and Tony Ross and think about how Goldilocks should have shown respect when going online. You can then complete the sheets about #Goldilocks to show how you have reflected upon the story.
Next, parents can log in to National Online Safety - this is free to our parents as we have a whole school subscription to this resource. If you have not signed up yet just click on this link to sign up: https://nationalonlinesafety.com/enrol/faringdon-infant-school.
Once you have logged in, type in 'Copyright and Ownership' into the search engine - this will bring up a variety of options including the lesson plan and resources so that you can watch the video together. Following that create a picture on Purple Mash about online safety, save it and stick it onto the sheet to show how the work you have created belongs to you because you created it, even though it is saved online on Purple Mash.
Geography
This week we are exploring map symbols. Have a look at the PowerPoint that explains different map symbols and what we use them for. Then play the matching game, matching the symbols to the correct geographical features.
Your main activity is to design your own map symbols for features that we can find around Faringdon. How will you represent these different features so that people know where they are in Faringdon?
Music
At school we use the Charanga and Yumu scheme of work. Last year you should have received your username and password so you can access Yumu at home - if you are unable to find it please contact your child's class teacher who will be able to help you find it.
Log into the Yumu website at: https://www.oxfordshireonlinemusic.co.uk/site/log-in/ and go to the assignments link as below:
You can have a look at The Assessment Lesson which has the understanding music section which the children are familiar with and songs to learn and perform, including the new song 'Baby Elephant' - perhaps you might want to video your child performing one of the songs! There is also a quiz at the end which explores your child's ability to listen and hear pitch, beat, rhythm and different instruments.
PE
This is your chance to have fun being active! Even if you are feeling well and self-isolating at home it is still possible to be active. Here are some suggestions.
If you still have your Real PE log in from last year you can log in to do REAL PE at home on https://real.jasmineactive.com/login. There are lots of great activities for you to try.
Other activities to help you stay active include:
