Reading

In Year 1, we are passionate about reading and using our Read Write Inc phonics to help us. We read every day in school and encourage you to listen to your child read at least three times a week. Remember to sign reading diaries so that Dojo points can be awarded in school.

Please also read to your child books out of their phonics range to develop a love of reading and extend their vocabulary.

Spelling List

These are the words that children need to be able to read and write by the end of Year 1. Homework is sent weekly to support children with this.
